In this effort, FINANTA aims to connect families and communities with the resources necessary for social and economic advancement. FINANTA is a certified U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Microloan Intermediary, U.S. Treasury Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), and Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) Homeownership Lender.
FINANTA offers a range of lending products and services. Products for entrepreneurs include microloans of up to $50,000, economic development loans from $50,000 to $150,000, and lines of credit up to $100,000. We also offer FINANTA mortgages (Up to $150,000) and PHFA mortgages (Up to $417,000) for first time homebuyers targeting low- to moderate-income in Philadelphia. For those not yet ready to borrow, FINANTA offers capacity-building programs that provide participants with credit-building microloans alongside customized one-on-one and group business technical assistance over the course of the loan term.
Among these programs is the PRECAPS (pre-capital) Program. PRECAPS is a program in which entrepreneurs not yet ready to borrow receive a credit-building microloan (under $5,000) in a group setting, along with customized technical assistance over the course of the 12-month loan term. Groups may choose to remain together and enter into additional year-long cycles with loan amounts gradually increasing to up to $15,000 in year four. PRECAPS’ goal is to enable entrepreneurs to expand their capacity to leverage and repay larger-sized loans, positioning them for bankability with traditional lenders for continued business expansion after leaving the program.

Geographic Area Served DescriptionThe PRECAPS program targets low- to moderate-income entrepreneurs throughout the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We serve a particular market segment of borrowers who typically lack the credit history and financial solvency needed to access capital from traditional banking institutions. Several of our loan capital donors recognize the need for flexible, character-based lending in the communities we serve and have thus provided us with capital to focus on this population.
